These shall include requirements for admission, retention, and degree completion. The Graduate School Council shall review all curricular matters, normally, every three years for recommendation to the University Council and the President for final approval. Programs not reviewed after four years shall be reviewed during the subsequent year. The Graduate School Council shall participate in the construction of the Strategic Plan of the University with respect to Graduate Programs. The Graduate School Council shall review proposals for new programs from graduate program coordinators to the Dean of the Graduate School for possible recommendations to the University Council. If approved by the University Council, they shall take effect only upon approval by the President of the University. Each program shall be responsible for continual evaluation, adjustment, and improvement. The Graduate School Council shall act on behalf of the University with respect to academic standards and practices. The Graduate School Council shall refer appropriate issues for deliberation to the Graduate Program Coordinators.
